Features

Everything tally does, in one place.

tally is three household tools that work better together: a real-time shared shopping list, a shared wallet for loyalty and gift cards, and a budget tracker that fills itself in as you shop. Here is what each one actually does.

Real-time shared shopping lists

The list is the core of tally. Everyone in the household sees the same list, and changes appear as they happen rather than the next time someone refreshes.

Live updates

Add an item at home and whoever is already at the store sees it appear. Items check off in real time, so two people never buy the same thing.

Works offline

Supermarkets have bad signal. Add and check off items with no connection — tally stores them on your device and syncs automatically when you are back online.

One invite link

Share a single link to bring in a partner, family, or roommates. No account juggling, and you choose whether they can edit or only view.

Barcode scanning

Scan a product barcode to add it by name instead of typing, so items land on the list with the right name the first time.

Shared household wallet

The wallet holds the cards that are always in the wrong person’s pocket at the wrong moment.

Loyalty cards

Store loyalty card barcodes once. Whoever reaches the checkout can pull up the code and scan it from their phone.

Gift cards and cash

Track gift card balances and cash set aside for the household, so nobody has to remember what is left on which card.

Private by default

Cards are yours until you deliberately share them with a list. Sharing is a per-card toggle you can switch off at any time.

Budget that fills itself in

Household budgeting usually fails because it is a second job. tally builds the number from the shopping you are already doing.

Prices as you shop

Add a price when you put something in the basket. That is the entire data entry step — there is no separate expense app to reconcile.

Weekly and monthly totals

See what the household actually spent by week or month, without building a spreadsheet or exporting a bank statement.

Shared or private

You decide whether the budget is visible to everyone on the list or stays yours alone.

Where tally runs

  • Any modern web browser — nothing to install to get started.
  • Installs to your home screen as an app on iOS and Android.
  • A native Android app for a faster, more native feel.
  • Your lists, wallet, and budget stay in sync across every device you sign in on.

What we do not do

  • No ads, anywhere in the product.
  • We do not sell your data.
  • No account required to try a list before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

Is tally free?

Yes. Creating shared lists, inviting your household, using the wallet, and tracking your budget are all free. There are no ads and we never sell your data.

Do the people I invite need to create an account?

They can open a shared list from an invite link straight away, and create an account later if they want their data to follow them across devices.

Can I control who can change the list?

Yes. An invite link can grant edit access or view-only access, so you can share a list with someone who should see it but not change it.
